JN Long Cultural Arts Complex in Cleburne
November 28 – December 30, 2023

Last year’s installation at the JN Long Cultural Arts Complex in Cleburne was such a success that we’ve been invited to do it again. This time, “Throw in the Towel” may include towels of all sizes, table runners, napkins, placemats, potholders, wash cloths, bathmats, all functional items for the kitchen, dinner table, or bathroom.

Items may be woven in a variety of weave structures, using appropriate fibers in colors of your choice. The Installation will be hung between November 28th and December 2nd at the JN Long Cultural Arts Complex, 425 Granbury Street in Cleburne, and will be displayed from December 5 – December 30, 2023.

Everything will be for sale and may be purchased to take home throughout the event. Items will be replaced as they sell to showcase the variety of work created by members of the Fort Worth Weavers Guild. Since this installation coincides with the Holidays, this is the perfect time to weave gorgeous pieces that may be a lucky someone’s Christmas or Hanukkah gift.

To ensure towels are of the appropriate size for the intended use, consult the handwoven towel size chart at handwovenmagazine.com. For those and other items, look at the “Handbook of Timesaving Tables for Weav- ers, Spinners and Dyers” or “The Weavers Companion.” You can also measure pieces in your home or ask an experienced weaver.

Pricing should be consistent, e.g., $30-$50 per towel, to help the Complex’s Staff who will manage sales. Again, consult those who have retail experience for pricing other items. A 20% commission of all sales will go to the JN Long Cultural Arts Complex so include that in the price.

You may have as many items as you wish. Each piece must each be tagged with a FWWG tag (Complete both sides of the tag.) which will be available to you upon request at the October 28th Guild Meeting from Chris Chiffolo. Additional tags may also be obtained when your towels are delivered. List each item on the Invento- ry Sheet attached to this newsletter, indicating the fiber used and the price for each.

If you prefer to print your own Inventory Form and/or set of tags, contact Chris Chiffolo at cdrcphone@gmail.com for a word document to enter the information directly onto the form. Tags must be printed onto the appropriate label template compatible with Avery U-0113-01_P. Print both sides on the sheet and do not print on paper; it is too flimsy.

Turn in items, including two copies of the Inventory Sheet, to Chris Chiffolo at the October 28th Guild Meeting. You may hand-deliver them to Chris at (reach out to Chris for address) or Margaret Arafat at (reach out to Margaret for address). NOTE: The final deadline for delivery is November 17, 2023.
